photographer, licence and source for every photograph on this site

Every photograph here is the work of somebody else, used under a Creative Commons licence or because it is in the public domain. 46 images in total: 15 × CC BY-SA 4.0, 11 × CC BY-SA 2.0, 9 × CC BY 2.0, 7 × CC BY-SA 3.0, 3 × Public domain, 1 × CC BY 4.0. Each entry links to the file on Wikimedia Commons, where the full licence terms and the photographer’s own description live.

Where a photograph sits next to the thing it shows, the credit is printed under it. The route panels on the homepage are the exception: each card is itself a link, and a link cannot contain another link, so those credits are collected here instead.

Crops and format conversions have been made for delivery. Under a share-alike licence those modified versions carry the same licence as the original, and are credited as such. Nothing has been altered in a way that changes what the photograph shows, and no photograph on this site is generated or retouched by a machine.

Illustrations and marks

The doorway-and-keyhole mark, the favicons, the field map on the homepage and the district diagrams on the subject pages are drawn for this site. They are diagrams and marks rather than photographs, and they depict nothing that could be mistaken for a photographic record.
